Transfer news: AC Milan interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga
According to Tuttosport via Football Italia (h/r Football London), Milan are keen to sign Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga.
Japhet Tanganga arrived at Tottenham in 2020. However, the move did not go down well with the North London side as the England star has yet to make a real mark in the first team.
The 22-year-old was unable to capitalize on the opportunities presented to him earlier this season and fell into the attacking league under Nuno Espirito Santo. After evaluating the centre-back’s performance in a few matches, Antonio Conte has largely been kept on the bench of late.
Japhet Tanganga has played only 16 games this season, having played only once in his last four league matches. His lack of time playing for Spurs is starting to look like a major concern, and it could push him towards the exit.
What after Tanganga?
However, Milan is interested in getting him out of his misery. the Rossoneri They are looking to attract reinforcements to cover up Simon Kegare’s injury. The Italian outfit has shortlisted Tanganga and they are interested in making a move for the youngster.
Although Spurs have valued Tanganga at €25m (£21m), the Spurs board appears unwilling to award the centre-back on a permanent deal and would prefer a loan transfer instead.
Tottenham are currently lacking in depth in central defense positions. Antonio Conte preferred to have three central defenders in his squad at N17. However, Christian Romero’s injury prompted the Italian coach to use full-back Ben Davies as a third centre-back.
Japhet Tanganga was fit to start the whole time after Conte took charge. However, the former Inter Milan boss’s intentions to keep him sidelined even during his time of need indicate that the Italian does not have complete confidence in the English ace.

Japhet Tanganga is only 22 years old and has a long career ahead of him. Given the long-term approach, Spurs could regret selling him so cheaply. The loan move looks perfect at the moment. If the defender can revamp his form, Spurs could capitalize on the hype.
Or better yet, we will have a good defender in our ranks for the future. With Toby Alderweireld leaving in the summer and Romero being an initial loan deal, we could have taken on a young player like Tanganga who would come from the squad and make the center back his own.
