The young Arsenal striker will be the second Borough striker to sign from the Premier League this month to boost his progress in the play-off after the arrival of Aaron Connolly on loan from Brighton.

Chris Wilder will finally work with the exciting striker after chasing Balogon when he was Sheffield United’s manager.

The former Blades coach led Middlesbrough to seventh in the championship table, just one point outside the playoffs.

Without a recognized goalscorer on the side, the 54-year-old took advantage of the January transfer window to bolster the depth of his squad.

Balogun has only featured twice in the league for Arsenal this season, including ten minutes against Chelsea in August.

The England striker’s first chance to impress could come in Middlesbrough’s championship match against Reading on Saturday.
