Cavs and Monsters Host Pride Nights at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse to Benefit Local LGBTQ+ Groups

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Monsters are excited to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and their allies with back-to-back Pride Nights this weekend at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse. Throughout the weekend, the massive outdoor curtain wall of Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse will be lit with colorful rainbow shades in appreciation of the LGBTQ+ community.

“As an organization, we strive to be authentically present and engaged in all of our local communities, and the annual Pride Night is a time when we can honor the voices, hard work, and accomplishments of the LBGTQ+ community,” said Kevin Clayton, vice president for diversity, inclusion and community engagement at the Cleveland Cavaliers. “Although a lot of hard work has been put into making Pride Nights possible, it is more than just one night. We are very proud to work alongside our wonderful LGBTQ+ partners to continue to drive the needle towards inclusivity for all.”

Cleveland Monsters’ 2nd Annual Pride Night

City Edition

The celebration begins for the Cleveland Monsters game Friday, January 21 at 7:00 pm against Rochester, USA:

  • Monsters and Americans will use commemorative pucks during Friday’s warm-ups which will then be available for purchase through Dash auction platform. Proceeds from online purchases will benefit from a specialized Pride disk Community AIDS Network / Akron Pride Initiative (KANABI), a locally based non-profit organization that serves and promotes the well-being of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and interrogative (LGBTQ) community and people at risk and/or affected by HIV through education, support services, quality housing, and advocacy.
  • Both teams are both majoring in sports pride bar on their hockey sticks during the match to support the cause with many monster hockey sticks available to bid through dash. pride bar is a global, community-based movement created to promote the integration of LGBTQ+ into sport, and has rapidly grown into a globally recognized icon for inclusion in the game of hockey.
  • Proceeds from the 50/50 lottery will benefit in-game LGBT + Lake County Center, whose mission is to promote a safe place for the LGBTQ+ community in Lake County through advocacy, empathy, education, and services.
  • The local drag character Peach Fuzz will bring down the game’s puck.

    3rd Annual Cleveland Cavaliers Pride Night

    City Edition

    The Cavaliers will host Pride Night on Saturday, January 22 at 8:00 p.m. opposite the Oklahoma City Thunder:

  • Proceeds from the 50/50 lottery will benefit in-game pride in holly, presented by LGBT Community Center in Greater Cleveland, with a mission to enrich the lives of the diverse LGBTQ+ community through advocacy, support, education, and celebration.
  • The Cavaliers will recognize Gio Santiago as the game’s community ‘DIFF Maker’. Gio’s passion is making sure LGBTQ+ people, especially those who are transgender, feel empowered and supported. Whether through politics, creating programs like the LGBTQ Youth Sports League, or his personal non-profit organization META Center Inc, Gio prioritizes making a difference so that everyone can live a safe and authentic life.
  • The PowerHouse Dance and Slam Squad team will be outfitted in the Cavaliers Pride Collection.
  • A special halftime performance from Cavs PowerHouse Dance Team It will display local raffle characters Cardi Red Diamond, Julie Black and Dakota Cox.

    Cleveland Charge’s 1st Annual Pride Night

    Cleveland charge, Submitted by Cleveland Clinic, also celebrated its first annual Pride Night at Cleveland State University’s Wallstein Center on Tuesday, January 11th, opposite the Windy City Bulls.

    City Edition

    The Charge claimed a 103-94 victory on court, while members of the local LGBTQ+ community out of court were given the opportunity to promote their programming and resources throughout the game. Charge players also wore Pride shooting T-shirts, which were auctioned in support of the local LGBTQ+ nonprofit.

    Pride Night is part of the Rock Entertainment Group’s comprehensive and ongoing commitment to maintaining and promoting an inclusive environment that welcomes everyone.
