Milan are reportedly considering a loan deal for Chelsea defender Malang Sarr this month.
The 22-year-old was expected to leave on loan last summer, but his move on deadline day to Eintracht Frankfurt did not materialise.
“This is what we wanted in the summer (a loan deal) and we had a practical agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt, but they could not transfer a player, so Malang remained,” His agent Federico Pastorello told The Telegraph last October.
“Let’s see in January what happens. Maybe he can go on loan after that because maybe he needs one or two seasons to play regularly before returning, as many players did at Chelsea.”
He has made seven appearances under Thomas Tuchel this season, with only one appearance in the Premier League.
Now, Sky Sport Italia reports, via Football Italia, that due to his limited play and Milan needing a central defender after Simon Kjeer’s injury at the end of the season, Sarr is on the list of potential defensive names for January.
He is joined by Manchester City’s Nathan Ake and Manchester United’s Eric Bailly.
However, the Rossoneri had already suffered a major setback in any Sarr hunt. Chelsea, due to defensive presence issues of late, will not allow the Frenchman to leave in January in order to deal with the ongoing turmoil at the back.
This would be a blow to Sarr, who had been hoping for more playing time this season, but Chelsea need him. Although he is unlikely to get the same number of minutes he has been craving on loan, chances will persist at Stamford Bridge between now and the end of the season.
